Heavy rainfall likely in Gangetic Bengal, city

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the metropolis and some districts of Gangetic West Bengal today and tomorrow, according to the weather office.

"Heavy rainfall along with moderate thunderstorm and lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of East Midnapore, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Kolkata till tomorrow," a Met department bulletin said.

Districts of Gangetic West Bengal are also likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on Saturday and Sunday.

Sub-Himalayan districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduars are also likely to receive heavy rainfall till tomorrow, following which rainfall in the region would decrease for the next few days, the Met department said.
 

Little or no rainfall occurred in the state in 24 hours till 8.30 AM today, with only Jalpaiguri (15.8mm) recording substantial rainfall during the period, the weather office said.
