Heavy downpour played havoc in Arvi taluka of neighbouring Wardha district as three persons, including a woman were swept away by the gushing waters, official sources said.
The three victims were identified as one Raju Mahadeo Gedam, Ashok Dashrath Sawai and Chandrabhaga Raut. They were swept away in Sarangpuri nallah in Arvi in the wee hours today, Police said adding that one body was recovered later today.
Hundreds of houses were damaged due to the heavy showers, officials said adding that several farm animals were also swept away.
In Nagpur, two brothers, aged 11 and 8, were killed in a wall collapse incident in Narendra Nagar area in south city area in wee hours.
The children were identified as Sumedh and Samyak Lokhande. Their family lived in a slum close to the Container Corporation terminal, police said.
"All the affected families have been shifted to safer places and the district administration is providing them with food and clothing and is keeping a close watch on the situation," Wardha collector Jaishri Bhoj told PTI over phone.

The affected families have been provided shelter in local schools, she said adding that the taluka received 210 mm rainfall.
In Gadchiroli district, Bhamragarh and Sironcha witnessed heavy rains. The vehicular traffic was affected from nearby places as rivers were in spate. In Chandrapur, the situation was equally concerning as all seven gates of Irai dam were opened.
In Nagpur district, Umrer and Bhiwapur taluka places were affected due to heavy downpour. The irrigation projects were nearly full to the brim, official sources said.
