Heavy rains in HP: One killed after tree falls on him

One person was killed and another injured in Kullu when a tree fell on them after heavy rains in Himachal Pradash today, police said.

Meanwhile, a bridge was washed away when a bike was crossing it after a cloudburst atMayar in Lahaul and Spiti district.

The local MLA reached the spot and directed authorities to restore it at the earliest.

Over 100 roads were blocked due to landslides including 78 in Shimla, 33 in Rampur, 32 in Rohru, 22 in Mandi and 10 in Kangra region.

Engineer-in chief R P Verma said that efforts are on to clear most of the roads by tomorrow and 224 JCB have been deployed.
 

Most of the rivers and their tributaries are in spate and the water level of reservoirs has increased sharply.

The Shimla water supply scheme was affected due to rise in silt level and several areas of the town did not get water for the fourth day.

Meanwhile heavy rains lashed some places in lower and mid areas and Bangana was wettest with 88mm rains.

The local Met office has warned of heavy rains in middle hills tomorrow and predicted moderate rains in the region over next six days.
