Nashik city and its adjoining areas experienced heavy rains, accompanied by stormy winds today afternoon, affecting election campaigning for assembly polls.

The weather office statement said that rain has been forecast for the next two days, which may affect the election rally to be addressed by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in Dindori tehsil of Nashik district tomorrow at 12.30 pm.

Earlier, an election meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was cancelled on October 5 at Nashik after a heavy downpour along with hailstorm.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray are also expected campaign here, sources said.
