Rainwaters entered nearly 200 houses in low lying Greenfield area in this tourist town, following heavy rains that lashed for nearly two and half hours, today.
The rains started pouring in the noon in various parts of the city, inundating low lying areas, resulting in water entering in Railway Police Station, and two commercial complexes in Charing Cross in the heart of the town.
Some 20 cars were caught in the water-logged road near bus stand, even as traffic was regulated and diverted via other routes.
Fire and Rescue services personnel are busy pumping out water on the road and bus stand, some private pumping agencies are taking out waters from the houses, police said.
