Heavy rains lash east UP

Heavy rains and thundershowers occurred at isolated places of eastern Uttar Pradesh while light to moderate rainfall lashed few parts of the state today.

Due to the rains, major rivers are in spate at different points with Sharda and Ghaghra crossing the red mark at Palia Kalan Elegin Bridge, a Central Water Commission report said.

Met office said that chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms was Sandila-15, Lalganj-5, Aurriya, Kalpi-4 each, Rasra, Banda, Kanpur and Palia Kalan-3 each.

CWC report said that rivers Rapti at Balrampur, Ramganga at Dabri in Shahjahanpur and Yamuna at Mavi and Mathura were flowing just below the red mark.
 

Met department have forecast rain or thundershowers at a few places over eastern Uttar Pradesh and at many places over the western side.
