Heavy rains lash Haryana, Punjab

In Haryana, Sonepat received highest rainfall of 151 mm followed by Bhiwani (112 mm) and Rohtak (83.4 mm).

Gurgaon (20 mm), Narnaul (52 mm), Karnal (22.4 mm), Hisar (5 mm), Ambala (12 mm), Panchkula (50 mm) and Panipat (40 mm) were among other places in the state to be lashed by rains.

Chandigarh had received nearly 100 mm of rains since yesterday, the local Met office said.

In Punjab, Patiala (9.8 mm), Ludhiana (30.5 mm), Mohali (70 mm) and Ropar (12 mm) were lashed by rains.

Chandigarh, the capital of both the states, recorded a maximum temperature of 27.5 deg C, six notches below normal.

 

Ambala's maximum was recorded at 28 deg C, down five degrees while Bhiwani registered a high of 29.4 deg C, four below normal level.

Hisar recorded a high of 31.5 deg C, down five notches, Rohtak's high of 29.5 deg C was also down by five degrees while Karnal had a pleasant day at 26.8 deg C, six below normal.

Patiala recorded a high of 27.8 deg C, down five while Amritsar's high of 32.6 deg C was down by two degrees.

The MeT has forecast heavy to very heavy rain at a few places in Haryana while heavy rain would occur at isolated places in Punjab during the next two days.
