Heavy rains lash HP, more predicted

Heavy rains pounded Himachal Pradesh over the last 24 hours with Dera Gopipur town in the state gauging 174 mm of precipitation.

The weatherman has said the wet spell is likely to continue till August 11.

"Heavy to very heavy" rains lashed Kangra, Mandi and Hamirpur districts of Himachal over the last 24 hours, the local MeT office said.

The MeT Department said HP is recording heavy rains as "the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Amritsar, Karnal, Meerut, Kanpur, Daltonganj, Digha, and thence southeastwards to the West-central Bay of Bengal".

Dera Gopipur in Kangra district was the wettest place in the state, recording 174 mm of rains over the last 24 hours.
 

Bhoranj in Hamirpur gauged 160 mm of precipitation, Dharamshala 125mm, Baldwara 85mm, Sujanpurtihra 74mm, Nagritasurian 63mm, Aghar 60mm, Hamirpur 54mm, Pachhad & Ghumarwin 44mm each.
