Heavy rains lash in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin districts

Heavy rains lashed Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts since last night leading to floods in the low lying areas.

The Pambankulam tank near Nanguneri breached and the flood waters entered the Krishnaputhur Village. The officials said the people in the village had been moved to safe localitiies.

Nanguneri recorded maximum rain fall of 165mm and the temple town of Tiruchendur recorded 190.5mm.

The Manimuthaaru and Paana Theertham falls was in torrents following heavy rains int he Westernghats catchment areas. The tourists were advised not to go near the Falls. The Agasthiar falls was also in torrents.
