Heavy rains continued to lash northern parts of Kerala, including Kozhikode, affecting normal life of people today, the worst sufferers being office-goers and school going children.

Most roads in the city have been inundated with rain water affecting traffic, police said.

Over 20 houses were damaged as a result of strong winds at nearby Nadapuram and Thuneri on Sunday which uprooted trees and damaged standing crops, police said.

Most of the low lying areas in the city including Mavoor, Ashokapuram, have been flooded.

A report from Kasargod district said heavy rains continued in the district disrupting normal life.

Some areas including Mukaralputhur and Chemmanad in the district have been inundated.

There was, however, some respite for people in Kannur district, which had also experienced heavy rains in the last few days.
