After several weeks of sweltering heat, the city was lashed by heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The nearly hour-long rains would benefit vegetable crops raised in some areas, officials said.
The summer showers also brought down the temperature though traffic slowed down in some locations owing to blockage of storm water drains.
