After a week-long dry spell, Nashik city and its adjoining areas received heavy rains on Friday.
The downpour, coupled with thunderstorms, lashed the city from Friday evening and there were some good spells on Saturday as well, officials said.
In the 24 hours ending 8 am on Saturday, Baglan tehsil in the district recorded the highest rainfall of 100 mm, followed by Sinnar (57 mm), Devla (46.2 mm), Nashik (33.2 mm), Malegaon (28 mm), Igatpuri (21 mm) and Trimbakeshwar tehsil (18 mm), the officials said.
Due to the good rainfall in the catchment areas of 24 reservoirs in the district so far during the monsoon season, the water stock has gone up.
The water storage in Gangapur dam, the main source of drinking water to Nashik city, has risen to 55 per cent, the officials said.
