Heavy rains lash parts of Himachal

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Himachal as monsoon remained normal in the state.

Una in Shivalik foot hills was the wettest in the region with 118 mm rains while, Dharamsala and Bangana recorded 54 mm rains followed by Gaggal 48 mm, Nagrota Suriyan 40 mm, Baijnath 37 mm and Nahan 34 mm.

The maximum temperature dropped from 34.6 degree to 31.4 degree at Una which was hottest in the region while the minimum temperature dropped to 21.8 degree, a drop of three notches.

Nahan and Bhuntar recorded a high of 30.5 degree, followed by Sundernagar 29.2 degree, Dharamsala 27.6 degree, Shimla 25 degree and Kalpa 24.8 degree.
 

Hamirpur was hottest in the region during the night with minimum temperature at 23.2 degree while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a low of 32.6 degree, followed by Dharamsala and Palampur 20.4 degree, Solan 20 degree, Shimla 17.2 degree and Kalpa 15.2 degree.

The local MeT office has predicted heavy rains at some places and rain and thunderstorms at many places in the state in the next 24 hours.

The MeT office has also cautioned pilgrims undertaking the perilous Sri Khand Mahadev Yatra of heavy to very heavy rains at some locations on the Yatra route from July 17 to 19.
