Heavy rains lash parts of Telangana

With Southwest monsoon getting active over Telangana, parts of the state received heavy rain with more showers predicted by the Meteorology Department in the next 24 hours.

Utnur in Adilabad district received maximum rainfall of 9 cm followed by Adilabad and Sirpur tehsil which recorded 8 cm of rain each yesterday.

The depression over South Odisha has moved North Westwards and weakened into a well marked low pressure area at 0530 hrs today and now lies over interior Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, the IMD said.

Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam of Telangana state over the next 24 hours, said Y K Reddy, Director-In charge Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.
 

"There is no flood warning as of today, but heavy rainfall warning has been issued by IMD for next 24 hours," Disaster Management Special Commissioner Sada Bhargavi said.
