Heavy rains predicted in next 24 hours

Moderate-to-heavy rainfall lashed most parts of Himachal Pradesh today, with the local meteorological office warning of heavy rain in several parts of the state in the next 24 hours.

Residents may get relief from heavy rain for a couple of days after that as the monsoon will remain less active for the next two-three days, said Manmohan Singh, the director of the Meteorological Centre, Shimla.

As per the data recorded this evening, the highest rainfall was recorded in Solan district at 79 millimetres from 8.30am-5.30 pm. Kasol in Kullu district witnessed 48-mm rain, followed by Shimla (47 mm), Mandi (46.4 mm), Kufri in Shimla district (43 mm) and Bilaspur (37 mm).

 

Chamba was the hottest place with the highest temperature at 30.2 degrees Celsius today. The maximum temperature in Una 29.4 degrees, followed by Mandi (29.2 degrees) and Nahan (28.1 degrees), Singh said.

Meanwhile, Keylong recorded the lowest temperature at 12.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Kufri and Manali was 14 degrees Celsius each, followed by 15 degrees in Kalpa; Shimla and Nahan at 17.1 degrees and 18.1 degrees Celsius respectively, the director added.
