Heavy rains, wind damage houses and crops in several villages

High velocity winds coupled with torrential rains led to havoc in several villages of Badnapur, damaging hundreds of houses and injuring at least one person, sources said here today.

The downpour was heavy in Bharkheda, Anvi, Shelgaon, Kandari, Rajewadi and Ujjainpuri villages for two hours, even as winds damaged the sweetlime crop.

Villagers ran to safer places after their houses were damaged and dozens of trees were uprooted, even as one Laxman Eknathrao Madan sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, the administration recorded 84 mm rain and officials rushed to the affected area to take stock of the situation, even as the revenue department assessed damaged in 330 villages of the district.
 

It may noted that during last week, the rain and hailstorms had created havoc in the district.

Sources said that crops in 550 villages of Jalna district have been damaged.

So far, officials have visited 330 villages and made crop damage assessment reports, sources said.
