Devotees in large numbers offered prayers in temples in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today on the auspicious occasion of 'Vaikunta Ekadasi' which coincided with the New Year day.
The darshan of Lord Vishnu in temples is highly venerated on 'Vaikunta Ekadasi'.
Devotees visited the temples since early hours of the day to offer prayers.
Governor E S L Narasimhan, common for both states, visited a temple in the city and offered prayers.
On this occasion, thousands of devotees thronged the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, at Tirumala Tirupati.
