Bridget Jones began her journey as 30-something, overweight singleton and has ended up as a 51-year-old widow struggling to find romance again.
Giving a shocking twist to the life of her beloved character, author Helen Fielding has killed off Bridget Jones' dashing boyfriend Mark Darcy in her new book, something that has angered her army of fans.
Fielding in her new book 'Mad about the Boy' has changed everything for Jones (played by Renee Zellweger in the movie spin-off), who in her last diary was all set to marry Darcy (Colin Firth).

The carefree singleton is now 51, single mother, battling the school run and rediscovering romance with toy boy Roxter while obsessing about her Twitter followers as well as her weight and wrinkles five years after Darcy's death, according to excerpts published in the Sunday Times.
The first Bridget Jones' story, inspired by Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', centred around her two love interests Darcy and her cheating boss Daniel Cleaver as she struggled through her weight and career.
Fielding has denied that the diary was autobiographical but many believe the story comes from her own life.
Currently, 55, Fielding is mother of two children and ended her relationship with television executive Kevin Curran in 2009.
As expected the news has shaken fans of 'Bridget Jones', who have taken to social network to voice their heartbreak and disapproval. But they will be able to know about Darcy's fate only when the book is out on October 10.
