Helicopter made of capsicum major attraction of vegetable show

A 30-foot long helicopter made of capsicum is the major attraction in the 8th Vegetable Show, which began at Kothagiri, near here, today.

The 2-day show is part of the annual Summer Festival across Nilgiris district, to attract the tourists, who throng during the summer season.

The helicopter made of 500 kgs of capsicum in green, red and yellow stands 12 feet tall and six foot wide was displayed by Nilgiris Horticultural department.

Other major attractions include a vegetable statue of king Thirumalainaicker, holding a sword and a peacock, made of pumpkin, brinjal and radish by Madurai department.

Coimbatore horticulture department presented a 'dancing woman' in Bharathanatyam posture, with pumpkin, water melon and capsicum.
 

There are 200 structures in the show, which was inaugurated by the district collector, P Shankar, in the presence of Horticulture Director, R Kannan, MPs, Gopalakrishnan and Arjunan among others.
