A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a spice trader at northwest Delhi's Pitampura area, police said today.

The accused, identified as Alam, used to work as a domestic help at the residence of the victim, Mukesh Grover (60), who was alone at home at the time of the incident, said DCP (Northwest) Vijay Singh.

According to the police, Alam allegedly strangulated Grover to death and fled after looting cash and gold ornaments. Later, he started working as a rickshaw-puller and lived at central Delhi's Ajmeri Gate area, from where he was arrested earlier this month.

The police are now looking for one Saud and an unidentified person, who were also allegedly involved in the crime. "Grover knew Saud and it was him who had helped him get a domestic help. It is suspected that the entire incident was pre-planned," a police official said.

The killing was reported on February 25.

Grover was a spice trader, largely dealing in black pepper, at north Delhi's Khari Bawli market. The accused domestic help had seen him enter into large transactions, the official added.
