Hemp worth Rs 1.35 crore seized; two held

At least 13 quintals of hemp worth Rs 1.35 crore were seized from a truck here at Mumbai-Agra national highway, police said today.

The seizure was made last night by Chandwad police from a truck coming from Hyderabad, Anant Mohite, police inspector of Chandwad Police station said.

On a tip off that a truck loaded with hemp was arriving in Nashik, Chandwad police laid a trap at Mangarul-Phata and impounded the narcotic substance.

Also, two persons--Chakradharrao Mohanrao (38) and Shaikh Shahavali Ahmed (43), hailing from Andhra Pradesh were arrested in this connection, Mohite added.
