"Standing Figure," an opulent bronze sculpture by British abstract artist Henry Moore has been stolen from the Glenkiln Sculpture park in Scotland.
It was one of four Moore works at the sculpture park founded by local landowner Sir William Keswick near Shawhead, the British media reported today.
The police said that the piece was worth a "high value" and have appealed for information from the public.
One of Britain's best known 20th-century artists, Moore died in 1986 aged 88.
This is not the first time that his works have been targeted. Thieves have repeatedly targeted his artworks in recent years.
Two men were convicted in 2012 for stealing "The Sundial," pegged at 500,000 pounds (USD 797, 850), from the Henry Moore Foundation in Much Hadham in Eastern England. These men also admitted to selling it for 46 pounds.
Earlier in 2010, thieves struck his 45,000 pounds painting "Three Reclining Figures On Pedestal" from a gallery in Broadway, Worcestershire in England.
The open-air Glenkiln Sculpture Park was created by Keswick between 1951 to 1976.
Keswick acquired the work after seeing it at an art exhibition, and Moore was personally "thrilled" with the Sculpture's open-air location.
