Her throat slit, woman's body found at rented house

The body of a 30-year-old woman with her throat slit was found at her rented accommodation in the Lajpat Nagar area in southeast Delhi this evening.

The victim, identified as Pooja Paswan, was alone at the house and was not picking up phone for past two days, police said.

They said her body was found by her brother-in-law went there to enquire about her, police said.

"The body of the woman was found with knife injury in the neck and arms. She was married two years ago to Sumeet, who lives in Patna. She was living separately with her husband," said Romil Baaniya, DCP (south east).
 

Sumeet lives in Patna and works as a businessman while she used sell bedsheets after purchasing them in bulk to make a living, said the officer.

Police said the house where her body was found was locked from outside. Neighbours also told police about hearing noise coming out from the house Friday night. The woman was not seen by the neighbours since.

A case has been registered and investigation has been taken up covering all angles, including personal enmity, they said.

Police have obtained CCTV footage from the place and trying to identify the suspects. Call detail records of the woman's phone is also being checked, they added.
