As smugglers use new ways to push drugs, BSF personnel today recovered over 2 kg of heroin hidden in a pair of sandals and a soft drink bottle.
While 175 gram of heroin was found from the sandals at the border out post Khemkaran Kasur, Ferozepur sector, 2 kg of the narcotic substance was recovered in the area of responsibility Border Out Post Daoke, Amritsar sector.
In the first incident, the contraband was found when BSF troops spotted a white polythene lying in the field. When it was checked, a pair of sandals was found. On checking the sandals, heroin was found hidden in it, a BSF official said.

It was concealed in a pipe connecting two fields for irrigation purpose, the official said.
With this seizure, BSF has recovered 67.736 kg of heroin so far this year.
Notably, smugglers are trying new ways and methods like throwing small packets or using tubewells to push drugs into the Indian territory from across the border.
