BSF personnel today recovered about one kg of heroin, hidden in a soft drink bottle, from the border outpost Jhuggian Noor Mohammad in Ferozepur sector.

"BSF troops while performing mounted patrolling duty along the border security fence, recovered soft drink bottle of two litres which was filled with about one kg of heroin and was lying in a cultivated land near the fence," said a BSF official.

With today's seizure, BSF has recovered 72.676 kg of heroin so far this year.

Notably, Pakistani smugglers are trying new ways like throwing small packets, using tubewells to push drugs into the Indian territory from across the border as BSF was maintaining extra vigil on the border.
