Mizoram Excise and Narcotics
department officials today seized 106.5 grams of heroin in Electric Veng locality here today, Commissioner of Excise and Narcotics L Hmunsanga said.
Hmunsanga said that two persons including a woman were detained in this connection and further investigations launched.
He refused to divulge the names of the accused due to fear of hampering investigations, however, admitting that the suspects were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
He said that the contraband, worth around Rs four lakh in the local market was smuggled from Myanmar via Mizoram-Myanmar border Champhai district and concealed inside two large watermelons.
