Heroin worth Rs 10 cr seized at Attari check post

Two kg of Heroin worth Rs 10 crore in the international market was seized today from a truck coming from Pakistan at the Attari check post, police said.

Acting on a tip off, a police team stopped the truck as soon as it came from the Integrated Check Post at Attari and seized the heroin hidden inside the engine bonnet, they said.

Three persons, of whom two were escorting the truck in a separate car, have been arrested, police said adding that the two vehicles have been impounded.

The truck carrying drugs came out from the check post after allegedly getting cleared from the BSF, immigration and the custom authorities, a police official said adding that "connivance of the officials posted at ICP Attari border cannot be ruled out".
 

The three arrested are being interrogated into the matter, the police official said.

The operation to seize the drugs was launched after Bathinda and Ferozpur police received information that a truck from India which had gone to Pakistan in the morning will be returning with drugs hidden inside it, police said.
