Heroin worth Rs 2.2cr seized, 2 held

Heroin worth over Rs 2 crore was seized from a duo that was arrested here today near Baldeo Tiraha, police said.

The contraband, weighing 1kg and 36gm was being carried in two black leather packets, police said.

"One country-made pistol of .315 bore along with some cartridges and a knife were also recovered from the two accused," SSP Rakesh Singh said, adding that the duo told them the kingpin of the racket is one Sanjai Yadav of Etah, who is serving with Assam Rifles.

The accused duo have been identified as Rahul alias Aasu and Satyapal. Efforts are on to arrest Yadav, said Singh.
 

"The two accused have confessed that the heroin valued at about Rs 2.2 crore was coming throughthe Yadav from Afghanistan," he added.
