Two persons were arrested today for allegedly smuggling 15 kg of heroin, bearing "Pakistani markings", on the outskirts of the city, police said.

"On a specific input, the police arrested the duo and seized 15 kg of high-grade heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market from them on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Nagrota here", IGP (Jammu Zone) S D Singh Jamwal told reporters here.

He said the recovery was made from a car at the Ban toll plaza when it was on its way from Kashmir to Amritsar via Jammu.

The consignment, which had the "Pakistani markings", seems to have come from across the border, Jamwal said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nisar Ahmed Bhat and Peer Abdul Mohmin of Baramulla and Kupwara districts of North Kashmir.

The IGP said a case, in this regard, has been registered at the Nagrota police station.

"The consignment was meant for a party in Amritsar. The Punjab police has been informed about it," he added.
