The Uttarakhand High Court today issued notice to four former chief ministers of the state asking them to define their stand on government facilities like free accommodation being enjoyed by them years after relinquishing office.
Issuing the notice, a division bench of the high court comprising justices V K Bisht and U C Dhyani directed Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, B C Khanduri, Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank and Vijay Bahuguna to submit their response within three weeks in the light of a Supreme Court verdict asking former chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh to surrender the facilities accorded to them as CMs and retained by them till date.
The notice was issued on a PIL filed by Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra(RLEK), a Dehradun-based NGO headed by noted rights activist Avdhash Kaushal challenging the constitutionality of the facilities being availed by the former chief ministers.
