The UttarakhandHigh Court today dismissed the order of a single bench by which the Badri Kedar Management Committee was restored.

The division bench of Chief Justice K M Joseph and Justice Sharad Kumar Sharma upheld the order of the government to dissolve the committee.

The decision for dissolution of the temple committee was one of the first decisions taken by the BJP government in 2017.

It may be recalled that Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj had on April 1, 2017, directed the dissolution of the temple committee. The decision was then overturned by the High Court.

However, on June 8, the state government had invoked a special special clause to dissolve the committee again, which was again stayed by the court on June 16, 2017.

Once again the order was challenged before the single bench of Justice Sudhansu Dhulia on the ground that the rules of the Badri Kedar Committee provide for a term of three years.

The case was filed by members of the temple committee, Dinkar Babulkar and Diwakar Chamoli.
