'High-end' flesh trade racket busted; five men held

A "high-end" prostitution racket, with alleged involvement of junior artists from film and TV industry, was busted and five people were arrested during raids conducted in and around Panaji, police said today.

"We have arrested five people during a number of raids conducted in and around Panaji. One girl has been rescued," Karthik Kashyap, Superintendent of Police (Crime), told reporters today.

The raids were conducted earlier this week at places including Dona Paula, Ribander and Bambolim, during which the five accused, were arrested.

"Mumbai-born and Goa-based Anand Kumar, who was arrested from his flat in Ribander locality, is the ring leader of this trade," the SP said.
 

The other four arrested have been identified as Naga Pramodh Kumar alias Dumbu (23), resident of Andhra Pradesh and Indradev (19), Ramudesh (24), and Santosh (22), all three from Bihar.

During the raids, the mobile numbers and details about the extra artists working in the film and television industry, were found by the police team.

"We have seized mobile phones, diaries and other records. We are investigating it further," he said.

Kashyap said police managed to track the accused based on the statements given by the victims of commercial sexual exploitation, who were rescued in previous raids.
