Online education and skill enhancement is likely to see a significant uptrend this year and high enrolments are expected from major tier-2 cities, says a survey.
According to a study by interactive education company Talentedge, media & entertainment and IT/ITES have been identified as two industries that will constantly seek skill development in 2016.
Some of the factors propelling the growth graph of online education in the country include easy accessibility to world class institutes at affordable prices, ease of learning while earning, dynamic & fast paced domain growth and desirable promotions or job changes.

The study noted that online programmes will be widely -preferred as candidates climb their professional ladder and the maximum takers for online education will come from the tier-2 cities.
However, some of the factors acting as a major barrier for online education include Internet connectivity issues, hesitation to move away from the brick and mortar system of learning, credibility of the programme provider and affordability.
"The survey identifies the challenging areas that require our immediate attention and intervention. It can be taken as a credible yardstick for the progress made so far to fasten the process of digitising the country," Malik said.
