There was no let up in the maximum and minimum temperatures with both remaining above normal levels. While the maximum was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, the minimum settled at 29.2 degrees. The maximum was five notches above normal at this time of summer, while the minimum was two degrees above normal.

Humidity oscillated between 42 and 73 per cent, leaving Delhiites sweating.

The MeT office has predicted that the temperature would come down from tomorrow. The minimum and maximum temperatures tomorrow would be 27 and 38 degree Celsius.

It has been an extended summer for Delhiites as the southwest monsoon missed its date with the capital. The normal onset for monsoon in the city is June 29.

The monsoon is now likely to hit the capital by this weekend and extend till the beginning of next week.

The earliest onset of monsoon over Delhi during the past 30 years was on June 15, 2008 and while the most delayed onset was on July 26, 1987.

During monsoon, if the city gets 645.7 mm rains it is considered normal for the capital, MeT officials said.
