High humidity prevails in parts of Punjab

Hot and humid weather conditions today prevailed in most parts of Haryana and Punjab with Chandigarh receiving 14.2 mm of rainfall.

The day temperatures hovered between 2 degrees Celsius above normal to one notch below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Bhiwani was hottest place with at 39 degrees celsius.

While Hisar settled at a high of 38.9 degrees celsius, the day temperature Amritsar was 37.2 degrees celsius.

Among other places, Chandigarh had a high of 36.7 degrees celsius, one notch above normal followed by 36.5 degrees celsius at Patiala, two notches above normal, 36.4 degrees celsius at Karnal, one notch above normal and 36.3 degrees celsus each at Ambala and Ludhiana, one notch above normal and one notch below normal respectively.
 

The department has predicted light to moderate rains or thundershowers at a few places in the region during the next 24 hours.
