High humidity recorded in Delhi

Delhiites had to sweat it out today due to high humidity even as mercury remained below the 40 degrees mark.

According to MeT department, humidity levels were recorded between 73 and 40 per cent during the day.

Weather has been sultry in the national capital due to intermittent rains which brought some relief from the scorching heat but has caused humidity levels to shoot up.

Following yesterday's light showers, the minimum temperature remained a point below normal at 26.5 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled 39 degree Celsius.

The city recorded 3 mm of rainfall over a day till 8:30 am although no rainfall was registered during the day today.
 

While the day temperature at Safdarjung observatory, considered the official reading of the city, settled at 39 degrees Celsius, which was still two points above normal, maximum temperature at Palam observatory was registered at 41.2 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, the maximum was recorded at 38.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum settled 28 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department predicted partly cloudy sky and thunderstorms in some areas of the city tomorrow.

"The maximum and minimum may settle at 39 and 27 degrees, respectively," a MeT official said.
