High-pitched campaigning for CMC polls ends tomorrow

The high-pitched campaigning for the 59-ward Cuttack Municipal Corporation polls, scheduled on Thursday, would end tomorrow evening.

Party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, half-a-dozen of his cabinet colleagues, at least ten MPs and over 20 MLAs were criss-crossing the city for last five days urging voters to to vote for BJD candidates.

Film stars and celebrities also joined the campaign trail while many independent candidates were leaving no stone unturned to woo voters.

The opposition Congress and BJP have also brought heavyweights and campaigning was expected to be more vigorous on the last day tomorrow.

The CMC election officer along with the police geared up measures to ensure that the elections and counting of votes on Friday ended peacefully.
