A high risk open heart surgery was successfully operated upon on a seven-month pregnant woman at a government hospital here, officials said today.
Nirmala, with seven-month pregnancy, was facing respiratory problem and initially admitted to cardiac vascular surgery unit in January at SMS government hospital in Jaipur.
Later, the doctors recommended open heart surgery after discovering that one of her heart valve was shrinking. Her family members initially refused opt for the operation as it involved threat to the patient's life, Additional Superintendent of the hospital, Ajit Singh said.

The high risk operation was successfully operated upon by a team led by the cardiac surgeon Rajkumar Yadav on February 18, he said.
She is now doing well and is likely to be discharged from the hospital in couple of days, he said.
