High speed boat launched for SPM security

: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today said surveillance of BPCL's Single Point Mooring (SPM) offshore terminal would reinforce the security of the vital installation which is critical to the state's economy.

He was speaking at a function after launching the high speed boat with a contingent of CISF Quick reaction team as part of enhancing the security of SPM terminal stationed 19.5 km offshore.

Hibi Eden, MLA, Ernakulam, S Sarma, MLA, Vypeen, Paul Antony, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, were among those present.

BPCL had set up a Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal in the Arabian Sea for receiving crude oil from Very Large Crude Carriers through subsea pipe line into storage tanks located at Shore Tank Farm (STF) at Puthuvupin in 2007. Crude Oil is thereafter pumped to Kochi Refinery for refining.
