A day after Railway Budget was presented in Parliament, Kapurthala based Rail Coach Factory (RCF) today said it will roll out first rake of coaches, capable of running at a high speed of 160 km per hour by the end of September or first week of October.
Making the announcement, RCF General Manager Parmod Kumar said a few changes in suspension, breaking system, automatic doors will be made in consultation with Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) to enable coaches to run at high speed.
Kumar said Railways has selected eight to ten routes on which high speed trains will be run.

Initially the speed of these trains would be 160 km on select rail routes and gradually, the speed would be raised up to 200 km after upgrading the signaling system, he said.
Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had yesterday stressed on the efforts being made to increase the speed of trains in select sectors to up to 200 km per hour.
