Temperatures remained quite high in West Bengal today despite heavy rainfalls at places, including the capital city, with weatherman forecasting rains or thundershowers in the next couple of days.
"Heavy to very heavy rains occurred in Darjeeling district of sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Rainfall occurred in most districts of the sub-Himalayan region and East Midnapore, Hooghly districts and at isolated places over South 24 Parganas of Gangetic West Bengal," a senior IMD official said.
The city recorded 34.1 degrees Celsius with a total rainfall of 16.1 mm, while Baharampore witnessed no rainfall as the temperature soared to 35 degrees Celsius, he said.
While Darjeeling saw 11.6 mm rainfall, Diamond Harbour recorded 8.8 mm of rains with mercury reaching 31.7 degrees Celsius.
"Rain or thundershower are very likely to occur at most places in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar districts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal," he said.
