Actress Hilary Duff and her boyfriend Jason Walsh have apologised after being accused of being racist for dressing up as a pilgrim and a Native American respectively.

The couple landed in hot water over the costumes they wore at the Casamigos Halloween Party on Friday, October 28.

"I am SO sorry to people I offended with my costume. It was not properly thought through and I am truly, from the bottom of my [love emoji] sorry," Duff, 29, wrote on Twitter shortly after receiving a lot of backlash

Walsh also regretted his decision. "I meant no disrespect," he wrote on Instagram. "I only have admiration for the indigenous people of America. In hindsight I would not have made that decision. I apologize to anyone I may have offended.
