Embroiled in a controversy over leak of his cabinet colleague's purported phone conversations, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today ordered a detailed enquiry into the incident.

"The Inspector General of Police (CID), Rakesh Aggarwal would hold the enquiry into the source, content, identification, leak and forensic and legal aspects of the case", DGP, Sanjay Kumar told PTI.

The audio CD, which surfaced on Saturday created a political turmoil with both the Chief Minister and state Health minister Kaul Singh Thakur accusing each other of maligning their image.

Thakur, who was in his home town Mandi today, targeted IPS officer A P Singh, a confidant of the Chief Minister, behind the leak.

The Chief Minister, who was in Bilaspur, also hinted at a CBI probe into the matter, if the need arises.

He also warned that he was not the man to be cowed down and will not buckle under any sort of threats and said that leaders and public representatives should also have a respectable private life.

A war of words had broken out between the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleague Kaul Singh Thakur over leak of the latter's purported phone conversations, reflecting the far from cordial ties between the two.

The Chief Minister had said that he was "pained by the allegations levelled directly or indirectly" by Thakur, who should have exercised restraint while responding to the charges against him.
