Himachal CM for consensus elections to Congress committees

The elections to State Congress Committee should be held in free and fair manner after arriving at consensus by taking all the party leaders into confidence, Chief minister Virbhadra Singh today said.

Talking to media persons on the side lines of three days State Congress conclave here today, he said that all those who had been expelled from the party for one reason or the other should be taken back into the party keeping into account the hard work and efforts they had made while in the party.

Singh stressed the need of holding such conventions at the grass root level from time to time for better coordination amongst the workers and the party leadership.
 

Besides he also underlined the need of such meetings right from the block level so that the people could have their say in the party matters.

Referring to the opposition BJP, which is agitating to press the demand for CBI probe into clash between the BJYM and Youth Congress at BJP office here on January 29, Singh said that "I hope that the opposition will play a positive role in budget session and discuss the issues pertaining to development of the State and welfare of the common man."

Chief Minister said that such conventions all over the country under the guidance of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi were proving to be inspirational and instilling confidence amongst the party workers and would prove to strengthen the cadre countrywide.

He also thanked AICC General Secretary and state party in charge Ambika Soni for her valuable suggestions and guidelines.

Soni, said that Congress party stands for struggle for the rights of the people of the country and called on the workers to inspire party leadership with their enthusiasm.

"Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has toured the state record number of times and has worked towards resolving the issues of party workers and general public. All the party leaders should also follow Singh's example and start touring the state," she said.

She also said that the rebel Congress leaders should be taken back into the party's fold after taking into consideration the merit of the disciplinary proceedings initiated against them.
