Himachal government bans use of word 'handicapped'

The decision was taken on the request of Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.

The expression 'persons with disabilities' will be used and such persons would be addressed as 'persons with blindness or persons with speech and hearing impaired' wherever such description is both necessary and relevant, an official spokesman said.
