Himachal Pradesh Government today notified enhanced pension allowance to its pensioners on attaining 65, 70 and 75 years of age with effect from April 1, 2014.

The notification regarding increased pension allowance at the rate of five per cent, 10 per cent and 15 per cent on attaining 65, 70 and 75 years of age respectively, was issued here today after approval from the Election Commission.

Five per cent of basic pension/family pension would be payable to the pensioners between the age of 65 years and 70 years, 10 per cent of basic pension/family pension to the pensioners in age group of 70 years to 75 years and 15 per cent to the pension beneficiaries between age of 75 and 80 years, an official spokesman said.

The government had made the provision for 'increased pension allowance' in the budget for 2014-15, passed in February this year but a formal notification was not issued.

Keeping in view the persistent demand of pensioners, the government took up the matter with the Election Commission and got its approval.
