Such buses would be plied from 5 pm to 10 pm in all major towns where a large number of women and girls commute daily for education and work, State Transport minister G S Bali said today.

Referring to Delhi gangrape incident, he said conductor-less vehicles would help prevent any such eventuality as the driver would be the lone male and he could not abandon the steering.

Besides towns like Shimla, Solan, Dharamsala, Mandi, Kangra, the special bus services would also be plied in Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh, Kala Amb and other industrial areas.

The Minister also said that his mobile number will be printed in every state run bus, so that passengers if in trouble can contact him directly.

Earlier, the minister was welcomed at Dehra, Jwalamukhi and Kangra.

Bali, who was elected from Nagrota constituency of Kangra district, returned home for the first time after assuming the ministerial post.
