Himachal reels under biting cold wave conditions

Cold wave conditions continued to sweep most parts of Himachal Pradesh today with high altitude tribal region shivering in subzero temperature.

The minimum temperature dropped by three to four degrees Celsius in spite of dry weather.

High altitude tribal areas reeled under subzero temperature with mercury staying between minus 14 and minus 20 degrees Celsius, while Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded minimum temperature at minus 12.9 and minus 2.6 degrees Celsius.

The mercury dropped by three to four degrees in lower and mid hills and Manali, Bhuntar and Solan shivered at 1.0, 1.5 and2.0 degrees Celsius respectively, followed by Sundernagar 3.0, Shimla 3.7, Palampur 4.8, Nahan 6.7, Una 7.6 and Dharamsala 8.6 degrees Celsius.
 

The day temperature, however, increased marginally in lower hills with Una being the hottest in the region with a high of 24.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 22.0, Bhuntar 21.0, Solan 19.5, Dharamsala and Nahan 16.7, Shimla 15.3, Manali 13.0 and Kalpa 4.0 degrees Celsius.

The local MeT has predicted dry weather in the region over the next six days.
