Himachal reels under intense cold conditions

No respite from biting cold for Himachal as minimum temperatures hovered around freezing point today and the MeT office warning of heavy rains or snow at isolated places in the mid and higher hills on Monday.

The local MeT office also predicted a wet spell in the state over the next six days barring February 14.

The high altitude tribal areas and other higher hills reeled under intense cold conditions as the mercury stayed 12 to 18 degrees below freezing point while Keylong, Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of minus 7.4 degrees Celsius, minus 3.6 degrees Celsius and minus 0.4 degrees Celsius, respectively, followed by Solan at 0.6 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar at 1.2 degrees Celsius, Bilaspur at 1.3 degrees Celsius, Shimla at 1.6 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar at 1.7 degrees Celsius, Palampur at 3 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur at 3.6 degrees Celsius Una at 4.5 degrees Celsius and Nahan at 6.7 degrees Celsius.
 

There was no significant change in the maximum temperatures and Una was the hottest during the day at 25 degrees Celsius followed by Bilaspur at 21.5 degrees Celsius, Hamirpur at 21.4 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar at 21.34 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 20.6 degrees Celsius, Solan at 19 degrees Celsius, Nahan at 18.7 degrees Celsius, Palampur at 16.7 degrees Celsius, Shimla at 15.2 degrees Celsius, Kalpa at 9.4 degrees Celsius and Keylong at 2 degrees Celsius.
