Cold wave conditions continued in upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh today as fresh snowfall and icy winds brought down the mercury in the region.

The high-altitude areas reeled under biting cold, with minimum temperatures touching sub-zero levels, the MeT department said.

Kalpa in Kinnaur shivered at 0.6 degrees, whereas Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded 0.3 degrees Celsius, it said.

Tourist resort of Manali recorded a low of 3.6 degrees, followed by Bhuntar 7.8, Solan 8, Shimla, Sundernagar and Chamba 9.4 degrees each, Palampur 10.5, Nahan 12.7, Una 13.2 and Dharamsala 17.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

The maximum temperatures also dropped variably in the state.

The MeT office, in its forecast, has predicted mild snowfall in high-altitude areas over the next two days.
